Not only has Wulfe disappeared, but with the help of the Goblin King, Larry, they discover low-level magic users who moved to the Tri-Cities for protection have also gone missing. And for those anxiously waiting to know, Sherwood Post’s identity is finally revealed.

Because of her bond with Stefan and, more recently, Wulfe, Mercy starts having strange dreams that put her in their minds, mostly with memories of the past, many of them quite unpleasant. An enemy Mercy thought defeated or at least contained is back in play, causing death and mayhem. Poor Stefan seems to have turned into a whipping boy in the last book and this one. Zee is an integral part of this story, and his history is also enlarged. While we all know Zee is many things, friendly not being one of them, he does care for Mercy: however, he is very, very dangerous, even more so than she previously thought.
