“Never-Contented Things” is a wonderful story that proves love and consent. Sarah Porter is the author of this book. This is her one of those fantasy novels that uses fantastical elements to highlight real world problems and make them surreal. This book is a very disturbing book at times, not only because of its depiction of macabre magic, but also because it explores how even those who love you the most can sometimes do terrible things to you. . This is also the story of Xenia and Josh, foster brothers with traumatic pasts who love each other more than anything else, and best friend Lexie, who didn’t let Xenia do what she really wanted.

As an older sibling, Ksenia knows Josh loves him more than siblings, but the more pressing issue is the impending breakup with Ksenia turning 18 soon. But before this happens, their entire reality changes after a group of terrifyingly beautiful strangers appear in the canyon one night. It is beautifully written, describing the inhuman, surreal events that take place, and showing the characters that some of what the reader is seeing is too difficult for the rational mind to perceive. There is a constant battle between being comprehensible together. It feels like a dream and a nightmare, and I highly recommend it to dark fantasy, dark fairy tale readers, and anyone looking for an immersive story.
